Ortulum is a combination of two Latin words:

Ortus + Lumen

  • Ortus: to rise; to arise, to emerge (as Perfect Participle of “orior”)
  • Lumen: light; life; day, daylight

The concept behind Ortulum is Rising Sun.

The sunrise has had special meaning to me for many years, especially following a personal journey—a personal transformation. Each day has increasing significance and meaning that has re-invigorated and re-inspired me, giving me the personal motivation to Rise Above.

That personal transformation directly intersects with my desire to work with companies that are facing a daunting journey of their own through an ever-changing sea of technology. My passion, my quest, is to partner with businesses to help distill, clarify, and execute on this journey by bringing my 30 years of experience to the table.

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.” — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, French writer and pioneering aviator

Our mission at Ortulum Digital Consulting is to provide technical leadership and guidance for your company to help you create and execute strategic initiatives that drive growth, reduce costs, and mitigate risk across your organization.

Over the past three decades, we have acquired extensive experience working with organizations of various sizes and industries as leaders and executives establishing, growing, and leading global technology organizations. This includes leading multimillion-dollar software product portfolios through multi-year strategic transformations, M&A technical due diligence on multibillion-dollar deals to support business development and strategic investment, creating technology business ventures and start-ups, improving efficiency through business process optimization and automation, and as enterprise architects building solutions to enhance and grow business capabilities with technology.

We take a “People First” approach. While we believe that technology is critical to all businesses today, it is, and should be viewed as, a complementary resource for your business. First and foremost, though, are the people in your organization with the processes and procedures they use every day, and your customers, clients, and business partners. Technology is a resource, a tool, that can drive efficiency, improve outcomes, reduce costs, and mitigate risk. To do so effectively, it must fit in with your people, processes, and culture—the way you operate your business.

Digital Transformation is an overloaded buzzword that can make it a challenge to find the right intersection to create true value for your business and your clients, customers, and business partners. At Ortulum, we do not promote a “one size fits all” for any type of technology solution. These solutions are as unique as your business is, and we partner with you on your journey to help you:

  • Develop a technology strategy that is right “sized” for you and your business to drive growth, reduce costs, and mitigate risk

  • Scale your business through effective use of technology—the right technology for your business

  • Build the capabilities your business needs, from business processes optimization and automation to cloud transformation to assessing and implementing technology solutions

  • Create and implement a Governance, Risk, and Compliance framework to reduce the costs of the growing number of initiatives across your organization that are required to meet the increasing regulatory burden, business complexity, and accountability necessary for most businesses today
